Web site poses questions for leading state

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Candidates running for Michigan governor frequently talk about jobs and the economy. But voters may want to dig into a lot more issues before casting a ballot in 2010.

That's the hope of a nearly a dozen longtime government watchers from both parties involved in a Web site called "Michigan's Next Governor Project," which they showed off Monday to reporters.

Nearly 300 questions ranging from whether a candidate would allow more coal-fired generating plants to be built to how the candidate as governor would develop a relationship with lawmakers are included.

The group hopes the Web site will give voters a way to dig into and understand the issues that will shape Michigan's future and how the next governor will run the state.
