Big mess left after storm

WEST MICHIGAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Wednesday night's storms left behind quite a mess.

Some roads around Kalamazoo were so flooded they actually had their own current.

You could see waves rippling across Howard and Crosstown Parkway.

On top of that winds ripped down trees all across West Michigan and knocked out power to tens of thousands of people.

Some our our viewers describe their neighborhoods as war zones. Many people are still cleaning up all that damage.

On Helmer Road in Battle Creek Thursday morning you can see that a tree branch is the reason the road is closed.

It came down during the storm Wednesday evening and has blocked the road since.

Scenes like this, are repeated over and over again across Battle Creek and West Michigan.

The branch that stretches over four lanes of traffic on Helmer tore down a power line.

Water has also pooled on low lying roads creating dangerous driving conditions.
