Vandalism, pet death in Van Buren County
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department is investigating a string of crimes near Paw Paw.
Police said a 9-year-old Yorkshire was beaten with a club and killed around 5 a.m on Saturday. The pet owner told police he let his dog outside for a few moments and when he came back he saw the suspect beating his dog. The man fled on foot and police are still looking for him.
Around this time, other area businesses and residences started reporting damage to their property.
Someone threw a rock through the window of The Almena Store on C.R. 653 at 5:48 a.m. Around 6 a.m. a homeowner called police and reported that his Chevy Lumina was on fire. Police believe it was arson.
Van Buren County Police said the MSP Paw Paw Post is also dealing with a string of incidents around the same area.
