Chopped down trees a mistake?

VICKSBURG, Mich. (Newschannel 3) - The logging company responsible for cutting down a more than 30 large trees on the wrong homeowner's property says it's all a misunderstanding.

On Wednesday, Tom Scott, who owns a weekend home on East V Ave. near Mud Lake, arrived at his property to find the loggers cutting down his trees without permission.

Newschannel 3 spoke with the logging company on Thursday, who says it was all a misunderstanding about property lines. Denny Dryer, the contractor in question, says Scott's neighbor signed a contract to have the trees cut, and says his crew measured the property according to the descriptions they were given.

"You have to be very careful on legal description, know who you are dealing with," said Dryer. "(Now) we have to pay Tom back. Still going to cost us thousands of dollars to get Tom satisfied and the clean-up."

Right now, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department is investigating the whole situation, including the neighbor who hired the logging company, who possibly gave the company the wrong property information.
