Clinton to help raise money for Proposal 2 backers
Comments 0 | Recommend 0LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A. Alfred Taubman says President Bill Clinton will help raise money for a group wanting to loosen Michigan's restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.
The 84-year-old retail mogul and philanthropist says Clinton is scheduled to appear at a fund-raiser Friday for CureMichigan, the group supporting Proposal Two on the state's November ballot.
Taubman tells The Associated Press that he and Clinton discussed the topic recently over lunch and that the former president is a "great advocate" of embryonic stem cell research.
The event will be at the Taubman Air Terminal next to Oakland County International Airport.
Tickets must be bought for members of the public who want to attend. Tickets are listed at $2,500, $1,000 and $500.
