GRAND RAPIDS (Newschannel 3) - A Michigan man is taking a long walk to raise awareness for cerebral palsy - on stilts.
Twenty-five-year-old Neil Sauter of Blissfield, Michigan started his journey at the southeast corner of our state, and plans to trek his way to the western edge of the upper peninsula.
He plans to travel an astonishing 830 miles at 20 miles a day, all while on stilts.
Sauter, who deals daily with the effects of cerebral palsy himself, has raised $4,500 so far, and his end goal is to bring in $10,000.
But more importantly, Sauter hopes to send a strong message about perseverance.
"I really want people to see that no matter what challenges are ahead of them, if they work hard, they can rise above anything," he said.
