'Joker' arrested in Three Rivers
THREE RIVERS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 20-year-old man was arrested at a showing of the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight early Saturday.
Police arrived at the theater to find employees restraining Spencer Taylor of Three Rivers. Taylor was dressed in a purple suit, wore a green wig and full face paint in the style of the character from the movie.
Police say that Taylor was trying to take memorabilia and posters related to The Dark Knight movie.
Theater Manager Brian Willoughby told Newschannel 3 that he saw the costumed vandal trying to take off with a nine-foot poster that he'd ripped off the wall, and wrestled him to the ground. Police showed up soon after and took Taylor into custody.
Willoughby also told Newschannel 3 that this joker had missed he casting call.
Last week, the theater held a poster give away for the best joker impersonator. No one in costume showed up.
Taylor was arrested and booked on felony larceny and malicious destruction of property charges. Police say the severity of the charges are due to the fact that damage and property value could be around $500.
