Denver to Des Moines flight delayed by ticks

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - How scary would be a movie called "Ticks on a Plane?"

Passengers on a United Airlines jet got to find out in real-life yesterday, after a woman found a tick in economy class.

The discovery delayed the plane's flight from Denver to Des Moines, while the jet was cleaned and declared tick-free. A United spokeswoman says between one and three ticks were discovered.

Passengers had to wait until another plane was flown in. That flight was further delayed due to thunderstorms.

Ticks can pass along a number of illnesses to humans, including Lyme disease. No ticks were found on passengers.
