Heavy Snow Likely Today

A strengthening area of low pressure moving just to our south today will bring periods of heavy snow by late this afternoon through the evening.  Forecast models suggest between 6 and 12 inches of snow may fall with heavier amounts more likely south than north.  Strong winds will develop from the east today, blowing between 15 and 25 mph this afternoon and evening, causing blowing and drifting snow.  Driving conditions will likely become hazardous late today and remain so through early Wednesday.

As a result of the storm, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for West Michigan effective today through early afternoon Wednesday.

Behind the storm, the snowfall ends Wednesday afternoon.  Thursday through the weekend looks tranquil, but will remain unseasonably chilly with highs in the 20s.  Stay with Newschannel 3 and wwmt.com for the latest weather updates.
