ALLEGAN COUNTY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) -- The former Wayland Township Supervisor and his wife were charged with meth charges, earlier this month.

Randy and Teresa Marklevitz pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine.

A judge sentenced Randy Marklevitz to 30-days in county jail, as part of probation. His driver's license was suspended for six months. He's also banned from drugs and alcohol. He must submit to drug testing and substance abuse counseling.

Teresa Marklevitz actually received more jail time. A judge ordered her to spend 60-days in jail and two years on probation.

Investigators say Marklevitz and his wife Theresa were running a fairly sophisticated meth operation in their home. Their 14-year-old daughter also lived in the home.

"In this country, we don't distinguish between people who have attained some success and are involved in government and break the laws. They have to be punished like anyone else," said Allegan County Circuit Court Judge George Corsiglia.
