Lexus Sedan Under Investigation

DETROIT (AP) - An investigation into the 2007 Lexus ES 350 sedan is being upgraded.

A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report says an all-weather floor mat can trap the throttle pedal, if not secured. That could result in unwanted acceleration.

At least 12 people have been injured. Forty complaints have been received and eight crashes have been reported.

There are more than 98 thousand ES 350 models on the road.

Toyota has told traffic safety officials it warned ES 350 owners in April about improper installation of the mat.

Federal officials are deciding whether Toyota's actions were sufficient.
