Trial location an issue in Mich. activist's death
Comments 0 | Recommend 0CORUNNA, Mich. (AP) - Prosecutors are asking a judge to move the murder trial of a trucker accused of killing an anti-abortion protester and a business owner in a small Michigan city.
Assistant Prosecutor Sara Edwards says people in Shiawassee County have strong opinions about one of the victims, James Pouillon. He was fatally shot while protesting abortion outside Owosso High School in September.
He was well known in Owosso for holding up signs of aborted fetuses.
Harlan Drake is charged with killing Pouillon and Mike Fuoss, a gravel company owner. Drake's lawyer is pursuing an insanity defense.
Trial is set for Feb. 23. A judge will hold a hearing Tuesday on the request to move the trial to another county.
