Clinton Wins By Wide Margin In West Virginia Primary
Comments 0 | Recommend 0CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton is the winner in West Virginia's Democratic primary.
She takes home more than half of the state's 28 delegates. But Barack Obama is still the leader in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton's spokesman says the primary results show that voters "don't want to be told that this thing is over." He says the people of West Virginia sent a very clear message that Hillary Clinton is the best person to take on John McCain in the fall.
Obama turned his focus to Oregon's primary and downplayed the West Virginia results, saying, "This is our chance to build a new majority of Democrats and independents and Republicans."
The Associated Press made its call based on surveys of voters as they left the polls.
