Man, 35, Killed while Helping Pregnant Wife

FARMINGTON, Mich. (AP) - A 35-year-old Farmington Hills man who was trying to help his pregnant wife has been killed after being trapped under his moving minivan.

Police say David Shu-Kin Kwok pulled his 2008 Honda minivan up to the book return at the Farmington Community Library on Saturday so his wife, Erika Kwok, could deposit books. But when he rushed to help her after she'd fallen, police say he forgot to put the vehicle in park or shut off the engine.

The van struck him, trapping him underneath. A rear wheel rolled over his wife. A bystander entered the van and shut off the engine.

David Kwok was pronounced dead at Botsford Hospital. Police tell the Detroit Free Press that Erika Kwok was in stable but serious condition at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Their 21-month-old daughter, who was in the backseat, wasn't hurt.
