Kalamazoo County Blood Drives: You can give a priceless gift that will benefit as many as four ill or injured people and it won't cost you a thing but about an hour of your time. The vast majority of Americans will need life-saving blood or blood products at some point in their lifetime. Most people simply expect that blood will be available when the need arises. But at the same time, only about five percent of Americans who are eligible to give blood do so. You can help reverse this dangerous trend! Giving blood is safe, simple and it saves lives. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. Donors may give blood every 56 days. For questions on donor eligibility or blood drives scheduled throughout the region please contact the Greater Kalamazoo Area Chapter of the American Red Cross at 269-353-6180 or visit us on the web at www.greaterkzooredcross.org.
