Q. Is there an application for Mac and/or WebTV users?
A. Applications for those users may be available
some time in the future. They are not available at this time.
Q. How often is the information updated?
A. News 3 Now checks for current information
(i.e. temperature, wind speed etc.) once every
five minutes and breaking news is issued as
it becomes available. However, the reporting
location (i.e. National Weather Service) only
sends information updates at the top of the
hour, while others send more frequently.
Q. Do I have to click on it to launch it,
or does it come on automatically?
A. Yes & no. During the installation,
you are given the option of loading News 3 Now
at Windows startup. If you choose that
option, it will load at startup (but you can
close it at any time). You can also toggle
the auto-start feature from within the application
(Menu -> Options -> Launch with Windows).
But keep in mind that the program needs to already
have an established and active connection to
the Internet before it launches, otherwise it
will produce errors.
If you don't have the start with Windows feature
enabled, then you can to launch News 3 Now manually
through the icon on the desktop.
Q. How do you activate the program
after you download it?
A. It sounds like you may have downloaded/saved
the installation program which installs the
program. To make it easier, try going
through the download process again. Only
this time, when you are prompted, click on “Open”
instead of “Save”. (Terminology,
such as 'open', 'save', may vary from browser
to browser. Choose the latter of the two.)
Q. Where will News 3 Now show up after
it is activated?
A. After downloading and activation, News
3 Now will activate a small window in the lower
right hand corner of your screen. It can be
moved or minimized to display just the current
temperature in your toolbar.
Q. Since I downloaded News 3 Now.
my computer is automatically connecting to the
Internet, why?
A. News 3 Now has to maintain an active
connection to the Internet to operate. It has
a default setting to automatically maintain
connection. To turn off this option, open
the program, click on "Menu" then
uncheck the "Auto Connect".
Also, if you do not want News 3 Now to launch
with Windows (which will result in the program
trying to connect as well) do the following:
Open News 3 Now, click on “Menu”,
“Options” then uncheck the box “Launch
with Windows”.
Q. How to see my city in radar view –
left zooms in and right zooms out click.
A. If you point your cursor to the map portion
of the page, and right click on your mouse,
you will zoom out on the map. Then put your
cursor over the area you want to see, and left
click the mouse. It will zoom in with the area
you pointed to centered. You can keep doing
that, zooming in and out, to any area of the
national and local maps.
Q. How do you minimize the News 3 Now window?
A. To minimize the News 3 Now window,
click on the “X” in the upper right
hand corner of the display window. If
you don't see/have an “X” you may
be using some type of custom fonts setting.
The program only supports "Small Fonts"
(Normal size @ 96dpi) or "Large Fonts"
(125% normal size @ 120dpi), no custom settings
in between. You can check, or change if
necessary, these settings via: Start (menu)
> Settings > Control Panel > Display
> Settings (tab) > Advanced... > General
(tab).
Q. How do I uninstall News 3 Now?
