Q. Since I downloaded News 3 Now,
my computer is automatically connecting to the
Internet. Why?
A. News 3 Now has to maintain an active
connection to the Internet to operate. It has
a default setting to automatically maintain
connection. To turn off this option, open
News 3 Now, click on "Menu" then uncheck
the "Auto Connect". Also, if
you do not want News 3 Now to launch with Windows
(which will result in the program trying to
connect as well) do the following: Open News
3 Now, click on Menu, Options
then uncheck the box Launch with Windows.
Q. News 3 Now doesn't seem to be updating, why?
A. There are a couple of things you need
to check. First when you are running News
3 Now, are you connected to the Internet?
For the program to operate it needs to be on
and maintain an active connection to the Internet.
Another thing to keep in mind is that most Internet
services will automatically disconnect you after
their predetermined amount of time.
Second, have you tried clicking on refresh? (Click on Menu>Refresh).
Q. The radar doesn't seem to be working.
The message "Data Not Available" is
displayed.
A. The application has to download some maps
and other resources the first time you run program.
The speed of your connection determines how
long it will take for the application to receive
the data, but this is a one-time download. When
the download is complete the radar button will
be active. In other words, give it some time
to load...if that doesn't work, give it more
time.
Q. Part of the News 3 Now window is
cut off and/or some of the text is missing,
why?
A. It sounds like you may be using some
type of custom fonts setting. News 3 Now
only supports "Small Fonts" (Normal
size @ 96dpi) or "Large Fonts" (125%
normal size @ 120dpi), no custom settings in
between. You can check, or change if necessary,
these settings via: Start (menu) > Settings
> Control Panel > Display > Settings
(tab) > Advanced... > General (tab).
(If one doesn't work, try the other)
Q. How do I get News 3 Now to use
the browser of my choice?
A. News 3 Now uses your default browser.
You will need to check/change the setting both
Internet Explorer and Netscape - having one
set to be your default browser and one not.
(In Internet Explorer 6.0, you would check these
setting by opening it, clicking on “Tools”,
“Internet Options”, “Programs”
then checking/unchecking the box “Internet
Explorer should check to see whether it is the
default browser”.
Q. The dynamic link library NPWXM32.DLL
could not be found.
A. The problem that you are having is
caused from downloading the installation program,
running it but not completing it then downloading
and running a second installation. Once
you start the download you must complete the
install or you will not have all of the settings.
To remedy the situation, delete/remove all of
the installation programs and/or icons then
re-download.
Q. Error creating registry setting.
A. It sounds like you are on a network
and don't have the proper permissions to download/install
programs. Your network administrator will
need to install the program for you and/or give
you the permissions to do so.
Q. 12031 Error
A. If you are using Internet Explorer,
click on "Tools" > "Internet
Options" > "Advanced" then
scroll down to "Http 1.1 settings"
and deselect HTTP 1.1.
If that doesn't fix the problem, go back into
"Http 1.1 setting" and select "HTTP
1.1 through proxy connections".
Q. Font settings for laptops
A. There is an issue on some laptops with
some video cards that render their own point
font so no matter what you set it to, the video
cards uses what it wants too. Therefore,
setting it to small fonts doesn't guarantee
that the data will be display using that point
font. Unfortunately there is nothing that
we can do to fix that particular issue.
Q. Proxy Server Problems
A. COX users: Make sure that in Internet
Explorer it doesn't have "Use automatic
configuration script" selected under connection/LAN
settings. It should be set to automatic
or nothing. You can check this via Tool
> Internet Options... > Connections >
LAN Settings...
