Internships

WWMT -TV Internship Program

As a service to aspiring broadcasters, the educational community and the broadcasting industry, WWMT-TV is working with colleges and universities, offering internships to qualified students.

Interns are accepted for this program in a number of WWMT-TV departments without regard to race, sex, creed, religious preference, age or sexual orientation.

Program Guidelines
All candidates for internship positions must be at least 18 years old, a junior or senior in college, have a declared major, and maintain an overall 3.0 GPA.

Internship candidates must have a direct interest in a broadcast career field.

Interns must expect to receive college credit for independent study from a recognized college or university for their internship experience at WWMT. This requires the approval and encouragement of a faculty member or adviser from the college or university. All prospective interns must provide WWMT with written approval from their college faculty adviser/counselor, or from a dean, department head, or internship coordinator.

Interns and school advisers must sign a student intern agreement provided by WWMT, which includes a waiver of station liability.

WWMT shall designate a manager in each relevant department to supervise and evaluate the performance/learning of interns. College staff may use the manager's final intern evaluation at their discretion in awarding a grade or credit for the experience upon completion of the internship. The length of internships shall be set by mutual agreement of the student, the college adviser and the WWMT manager.

At the end of an internship, WWMT requires all interns to file a written report on the experience with the onsite supervisor, to be endorsed and then forwarded to the intern's faculty adviser or internship coordinator and to the WWMT Human Resources Coordinator.
