Alabama family invents new sport after heavy rains story image

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Heavy rains turned an Alabama family's yard into a green trampoline.

More than 6 inches of rain fell in northern Alabama, but instead of making puddles in this yard, the water became trapped between the grass and the soil.

The family joked that they created the new sport of sod surfing.

The ground eventually soaked up the water.
