The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids and northern Indiana issues a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties until 10 PM.  Damaging wind gusts of 60 mph or greater are the primary concern.  Large hail of 1" in diameter or larger is a close second.  We'll be tracking storm development with Live Doppler Radar throughout your afternoon and evening.  Storm motion is easterly at 30 to 50 mph.  Stay with for the latest weather information!

Man shot burglar as she ran away

LONG BEACH, California (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Long Beach, California are deciding whether to arrest an 80-year-old man who shot and killed a suspected female burglar while she was running away.

The homeowner, Tom Greer, told local media he shot 28-year-old Andrea Miller even after she said quote... "Don't shoot me, I'm pregnant."

The incident unfolded Tuesday when Greer came home to find Miller and another suspect in his home.

They attacked him, breaking his collarbone.

"While the suspects continued to burglarize the home, he was able to retrieve another gun from the house, he returned to confront the suspect and fired his gun at them, while they were still inside the house," said Chief Jim McDonnell.

Greer says the same couple had robbed him at least twice before.

Police confirm Miller had a long criminal background.

As for being pregnant, police are now waiting on autopsy results.
