WASHINGTON (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 15-year-old Washington state boy is getting national attention for his invention.

Suman Mulumundi designed Steth-i-o, an iPhone case that combines the inner workings of a modern stethoscope with the electronics of an iPhone to record and visualize heart sounds.

Now, anyone with an iPhone can record their heartbeat and send it to their doctor to be analyzed.

Steth-i-o is also a low-cost life-saving device for those in poverty stricken countries.

Suman is still waiting for FDA approval.
