American soldier shot in South Korea

Updated: Monday, March 4 2013, 08:40 AM EST
SOUTH KOREA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An American soldier has been shot after allegedly refusing to stop for South Korean police.

It happened Saturday night. The 23-year-old private first class was shot in the shoulder after leading police on a high speed chase.

South Korean police say it began when they got calls about American soldiers threatening people with an air rifle near a subway station.

They say when they got there the private, a staff sergeant and his wife took off in a car and almost ran over a police officer on a dead end street.

The officer fired a warning shot and three shots into the vehicle.

Police say they later tracked the car to the soldier's home.

U.S. military officials say they have received a subpoena Monday morning for the two other individuals involved.
