President plans trip to Israel

Updated: Wednesday, February 6 2013, 08:49 AM EST
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – President Obama is now planning a trip to Israel for the first time since he entered the Oval Office.

Experts say this may boost the president's image in Israel where many don't view him as a friend of the Jewish state.

The trip is expected to take place in late March and will also include stops in the Jordan and the West Bank.

The last time President Obama visited Israel is when he was running for office in 2008.

Since then the president has had a rocky relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu.
