NORTH CAROLINA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The so-called "Can Opener Bridge" is taking the top off a lot of trucks in North Carolina.
It is the Gregson Street Railroad Trestle Bridge in Durham, North Carolina.
The clearance is only 11-feet 8-inches and it's clearly marked, but many drivers don't see those signs until it's too late.
A man who lives nearby noticed these crashes were happening a lot so he set up cameras to capture them and has uploaded more than 60 crashes to a website he created called "11-foot-8 dot com."
If you're wondering why they don't just raise the bridge or lower the road, it turns out a sewer main runs right under the highway, so it would cost millions of dollars to raise that span.
