21 sentenced to death in Cairo soccer riot

CAIRO, Egypt (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An Egyptian court confirmed handing down death sentences against 21 people for their roles in a deadly soccer riot.
The February 2012 riot was one of the worst soccer disasters in the country's history--more than 70 people died after fans and security guards clashed.
The sentences were passed down on January 28th, sparking massive protests in Cairo.
40 people died, and sources say most of them were shot by police.
In light of the recent news, fans have set Egypt's Soccer Federation headquarters on fire.
