SOUTH BEND, Ind. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A billboard and a perfect stranger could wind up saving an Indiana man's life.
Jerry Graf needed a new kidney so badly his family rented out ad space to try and find a donor.
It grabbed the attention of Amy Pitrowski, who's always wanted to give the gift of life.
She was tested, and turned out to be Graf's perfect match.
"'Thank you' by no means covers the way we feel about her," said Diane Graf, Jerry's wife. "For her to do this for us, it's amazing. It's just amazing."
"He'll get to see his granddaughter grow up, you know?" Pitrowski said. "We can't guarantee how long that it's going to be that he's with my kidney, but it's more of a better outcome than what he has right now."
The transplant surgery is scheduled for next Friday.
