STANLEY, North Carolina (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Rescue crews in North Carolina have recovered the bodies of two young cousins.
They were buried when a wall of dirt fell on them at a home construction site.
The bodies of the 6-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy were pulled from a 24-foot-deep pit in the town of Stanley outside Charlotte.
Crews had been searching for them since just after 6:00 Sunday night.
Authorities say the cousins went into the pit Sunday to retrieve a small tool when the dirt wall collapsed on them.
Rescuers worked for more than 12 hours to try to save the children.
