LOS ANGELES (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A California man went from unemployed to multi-millionaire after winning the state's $33 million super lotto jackpot.

Massoud Ardalan was laid off several months ago as a copying manager after 16 years.

He bought the winning lotto ticket at a gas station in Walnut Creek, California.

"I removed my eyeglasses, rubbed my eyes again, again," Ardalan said. "Maybe ten times."

Ardalan and his wife opted for the lump sum prize of $22.9 million.

The family hopes to use some of the money to open their own business to put family and friends who are unemployed back to work.
