Carnival Dream having problems in Caribbean

Updated: Thursday, March 14 2013, 12:54 PM EDT
ST. MAARTEN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – There is more drama for Carnival Cruise Lines.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the Carnival Dream had generator problems Wednesday night in the Caribbean.

The ship was on a seven day cruise and was supposed to leave port around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, but has been docked in St. Maarten since the issues began.

Passengers say it has been a nightmare.

“The bathrooms are not working, they're backing up. The elevators have not been working. They've been turning them on and off. On and off,” said passenger Gregg Stark.

Carnival says the ship now has full power but remains docked while they work on technical issues.

You may remember that last month an engine fire crippled the Carnival Triump, leaving thousands without working toilets or power.

This latest problem comes just two days after Carnival Cruise Lines announced it was conducting a comprehensive review of all of its ships.
