Confirmation hearings start for new CIA head

Updated: Thursday, February 7 2013, 07:16 PM EST
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - President Obama's pick to be the next Director of the CIA faced members of Congress on Thursday.

John Brennan answered questions about his involvement in the administration's controversial drone strike program.

Thursday's confirmation hearing was repeatedly interrupted by protesters.

The hearing focused partly on the use of drones against terror suspects overseas.

Brennan defended the drone strikes, saying they cause far fewer civilian casualties than war.

The Senate Committee will review the hearing testimony and vote on Brennan's confirmation later this month.
