ALABAMA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - After a more than week-long ordeal, thousands of Carnival cruise ship passengers are finally back on shore and glad to off that boat.

"It was horrible, it was absolutely horrible having to smell other people's urine seeing the feces walking down the hall. You would step on the ground and the carpet and your feet was like sinking in because it was like so wet," said Adriana Perez.

The ship lost power over the weekend after a fire in the engine room. It was finally towed back to shore in Mobile, Alabama Thursday night.

After the power went out the trip was plagued by food shortages and serious plumbing issues.

Carnival says passengers will get a full refund and discounts on future cruises, along with $500 in compensation.
