Daring jailbreak involved helicopter, but escapees caught

Updated: Monday, March 18 2013, 08:58 AM EDT
QUEBEC (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Two inmates in Canada made a daring daylight jailbreak.

The men climbed up a rope to a helicopter.

Their freedom was short lived however.

Early Monday morning police in Quebec took the second of the two men into custody after surrounding a building all night long.

The other inmate was arrested earlier Sunday along with three other people.

Police say Sunday afternoon two men posed as tourists, hired a helicopter and then forced the pilot to fly over the detention center.

They lowered a cable to the inmates and then carried them off to a waiting car.

One of the inmates is wanted in connection to a murder investigation. The other is serving time for several charges, including arson and breaking and entering.
