Updated: Monday, March 18 2013, 08:52 AM EDT
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Madonna has gone out of her way to call attention to the Boy Scout's ban on gay members and leaders.

The singer dressed up as a Boy Scout at the Glaad Awards on Saturday to call attention to the Boy Scout ban on homosexuals.

The organizations is currently reconsidering the ban and recently sent out a questionnaire to troop leaders and parents.

But Madonna's not waiting. The Material Girl called on the organization to change its - quote - "stupid rules."

"I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn't let me join," said Madonna. "It's 2013 people, we live in America, land of the free and home of the brave. That's a question, not a statement."

Madonna also spoke out against homophobia, discrimination and bullying. She was there to present CNN's Anderson Cooper the Vito Russo Award. It's given to openly gay media professionals who promote equality
