Man suspected of killing Colo. corrections head killed in Tx

Updated: Friday, March 22 2013, 08:10 PM EDT
DECATUR, Texas (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Texas believe they've shot and killed the man who killed a corrections official in Colorado earlier this week.

It started as a routine traffic stop in Decatur, Texas.

As the deputy approached the car, the driver, now identified as Evan Ebel, pulled a gun and shot the officer before taking off.

Other officers chased Ebel through two counties before he crashed and got out of his car, still firing at police.

The officers returned fire, killing him.

Ebel was out of the Colorado prison system on parole, and was identified as a member of an organized white supremacist prison gang.

Investigators believe he may have shot corrections chief Tom Clements as well as a pizza delivery man in Denver.
