New investigator to lead Pistorius case story image
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new investigator has been appointed to lead the case against South African Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius.

The decision came after it emerged that the initial investigator was himself facing attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting at a minibus full of people in 2011.

The new investigator took over Thursday--the third day of a bail hearing for Pistorius.

A judge will decide if Pistorius can leave jail before going to trial for the alleged premeditated murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

His lawyers made the argument on Thursday that the former investigator botched the investigation and contaminated the crime scene.
