'Piggyback Bandit' at it again

Updated: Tuesday, February 5 2013, 08:25 AM EST
ILLINOIS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man known as the Piggyback Bandit is at it again.

Sherwin Shayegan made national headlines when he started hopping on the backs of athletes in his hometown in Washington state, claiming he wanted to take a picture with them.

Now he's on the move and keeping up this unusual behavior.

Police say he showed up at a college basketball game in Illinois and asked for a piggyback ride.

"He said he wanted to take a picture with me and I was like OK, that was fine. He took me in front of the door. Then, he said for the picture that he wanted to get on my back and I was like, OK that's fine, I guess," said basketball player Cody Cooley. "I was like, oh man, you've got to get off my back. So as soon as he got off my back, he took off running outside. After that, I don't know."

The coach said while this behavior is pretty creepy, he did extend an offer to Shayegan.

"He's more than welcome to come back and fill up water stuff, if he just wanted to high five our kids and stuff like that, I just don't want him jumping on their backs," said Coach Darren Bizarri.

Police don't think Shayegan is a threat to the community, but they have notified area colleges and high schools so that they're aware of the situation.
