WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

SOUTH AFRICA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius broke down in tears inside a South African courtroom Tuesday morning.

No cameras were allowed at the bail hearing, which is being held the same day as the funeral of his girlfriend who he is accused of killing.

Friends and family gathered together Tuesday to say goodbye to super model Reeva Steenkamp in the South African city of Port Elizabeth.

Pistorius' family calls her death a tragic accident and says the sprinter is not a killer but a sportsman who acted on instinct.

They say he shot her because he thought she was an intruder.

"I have never seen him show an angry side. I have never seen him lose his temper. And it's just -- he's an incredibly kind and gentle human being. That's the way I know him," said friend Vanessa Haywood.

Prosecutors say Pistorius should be denied bail because they have a rock solid premeditated murder case against him.

If convicted of premeditated murder, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
