NEW YORK (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Parents are voicing their concerns after a school security officer's gun accidentally fired during classes.

The school says the officer was patrolling the halls when the gun discharged.

Some students say they heard a noise, but say they never felt they were in any danger.

Parents say this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

"We were all really confused and shocked. We were like, wait, what happened? How did that happen?" said one parent.

No students or staff were in the area when the gun discharged and no one was injured.

The school and police are investigating the incident. The school security officer has been suspended until that investigation is completed.
