Search called off for man who fell into sinkhole

Updated: Monday, March 4 2013, 08:37 AM EST
TAMPA, Florida (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Monday, crews will finish taking down what is left of a home where a man was swallowed by a sinkhole last Thursday.

The search for Jeff Bush has now been called off.

This weekend, crews lowered a camera into the hole but there was no sign of the 37-year old.

Engineers say the sinkhole is 30 feet wide and 60 feet deep and filled with clay and debris.

Firefighters have been trying to salvage what they can for the remaining family.

"Terrifying, heartbroken, just don't even know what to think sometimes. All those memories, childhood, down the drain," said Jordan Wheeler.

Once demolition is complete, officials say they'll have a better idea on how stable the hole is and whether surrounding homes may also be in danger.
