Soldier not allowed to plead guilty in shooting spree

Updated: Thursday, March 21 2013, 08:46 AM EDT
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A soldier accused of killing 13 people during a shooting spree at Ford Hood is not being allowed to plead guilty.

Major Nidal Hasan wanted to enter that plea to 13 counts of premeditated murder, but Army rules prevent a judge from accepting a guilty plea to charges that carry the death penalty.

The shooting rampage at Fort Hood happened back in 2009.

Nadal is scheduled to stand trial in May.
