LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Democrats in Lansing are re-introducing a plan to help kids pay for college.
It would allow high school graduates in Michigan to get grants to pay for most, if not all, of the tuition at the state's public universities and community colleges.
Supporters say it would cost the state just under $2-billion per year. They proposed paying for the program by eliminating some business tax credits.
Many republicans are skeptical of the plan and it did not get past committee hearings in the last legislative session.
