TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Northern Michigan store is drawing looks and creating confusion with its M-16 military assault rifle sign.
Shortly after Roy's General Store in Traverse City put up a message saying "Get your M-16 Rifle here before it is outlawed," last week, they got a few unhappy customers.
It was supposed to be a play on words started as a way to promote the sale of a lighter for grills modeled after the rifle.
People were coming in either upset about the sign or wanting to buy a gun--except the store isn't licensed to sell guns.
They've since changed the sign to "Pilot light out? Fire 'er back up with an M-16 rifle," and promise to change it when the last lighter is sold.
