MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - On the same day Michigan's right-to-work law kicked in the UAW has released its latest figures showing membership in that union is on the rise slightly.
The UAW says it had over 382,000 members last year, up nearly 2,000 from the previous year.
The union's president says membership is -quote- "on a steady path of recovery ... even in the face of concerted attacks on workers and collective bargaining."
Under the new right-to-work law unions can no longer collect mandatory fees from employees they represent in collective bargaining agreements.
