KENT COUNTy,(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to learn what killed a grandmother as police investigate a car crash in Kent County.

State Police say the woman, identified as 66-year-old Linda Simons, of Nashville, Michigan, clipped a mailbox and lost control on M-50 near Freeport Road in Kent County's Bowne Township.

Three brothers--two 13-year-olds, and a 10-year-old, were all inside the car.

Witnesses say two of the boys were able to climb out of the car's windows, while the grandmother and one of the boys remained pinned inside.

"She was definitely pinned up against the dash of the car, and was not conscious," said witness Marie Vredevelt.

State Police say it took more than an hour and a half to free the young man and get him to DeVos Children's Hospital.

They're not sure if the grandmother was killed as a result of the crash, or from a possible stroke.
