DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for St. Joe and Branch counties until 10 AM.  Dense fog has already been observed in many cities in West Michigan including Kalamazoo.  The ADVISORY may be expanded to include more counties.  Burning off fog this time of year is tough thanks to a low sun angle.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.

Driver injured after crashing into paving machine

Updated: Tuesday, July 15, 2014

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A driver from Allendale was injured early Tuesday, July 15th when his car crashed into a paving machine.

24-year old Dustin Gilbert told Deputies he took his eyes of the road for just a second and when he turned back he was too close to the equipment to stop.

It happened on 8th Avenue and Country Lane in Tallmadge Township around 1:30 in the morning.

The driver in the paving machine was driving it onto a loading truck at the time of the crash. Crews had just finished a job in the area.

Sgt. Matt Wilfong with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department says the crash hit with such force it caused a bobcat trailer to fall off the truck and was flipped over on the road.

The driver in the paving machine was not injured.

Gilbert was hurt and was taken to Spectrum where he is currently listed in good condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
