WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES

UNTIL 8 PM

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES start shortly for all of West Michigan for an accumulation of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain and even plain rain.  The ADVISORIES last until 8 PM everywhere save for Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties where the expiration time is 1 PM.  Snowfall ranges from 1" to 3" near and south of I-96 including Kalamazoo.  North of I-96, amounts may be greater in a range from 2" to 4".  Once snow transitions to freezing rain, ice accumulations of 1/10" perhaps upwards of 2/10" are possible.  Plus, secondary and back roads are likely to remain icy even when air temperatures reach the middle 30s this afternoon.  Please be careful traveling!

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A local community is coming together to celebrate the 24th anniversary of a historic piece of legislation.

It was 24 years ago, on July 26, that President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law.

Since then, it has opened up accessibility and opportunities for people with disabilities.

Friday, the Disability Network of Southwest Michigan is inviting everyone to join them for free food and education at its Kalamazoo office.

"When we look at access to restaurants, hotels, all of these places, we have seen changes," said Disability Network of Southwest Michigan CEO Joel Cooper. "There are business owners that are wanting to be inclusive to every person in their business."

The celebration is Friday from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m., at 517 E. Crosstown Parkway in Kalamazoo.
