High winds kick up big waves at lakeshore story image

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - High winds along the lakeshore kicked up big waves Tuesday, bringing dozens of people to check out the scene.

People from across the area were out watching 5 foot waves roll in; most just took photos and videos, but some decided it was the perfect time to get in the water.

The National Weather Service, however, urged swimmers to stay out of the water, citing a higher risk for rip currents, especially along the pier.

Nevertheless, surfers and kite boarders saw an opportunity for fun.

But for those on land, it seemed the thrills were just as big.

Newschannel 3's Stacia Mullaney has more on the waves from the lakeshore.
