Investigation underway into Byron Center house fire

Updated: Wednesday, July 16, 2014

BYRON CENTER, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An investigation is underway after a house in Byron Center went up in flames twice.

Crews first responded to the call at a home in the 4600 block of 76th Street in Byron Center around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Then around 11:00 p.m., that night, crews were called back.

Responders on-scene told Newschannel 3 that the house was engulfed when they arrived the second time.

Family members say the fire likely started when a recessed light in an upstairs closet got too hot.

Everyone, including the family's pet, was able to make it out of the house safely.
