Proposed race at Field of Flight never happens, drivers outraged

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Dozens of West Michigan drivers lost out on hundreds of dollars after they paid for an event that never took place.

The Better Business Bureau says about 70 drivers paid more than $200 apiece to participate in the Michigan Mile event at W.K. Kellogg Airport in Battle Creek.

It was scheduled to take place during this year's Field of Flight Balloon and Air Show; instead, it was cancelled and race organizer Alex Conley is refusing to refund money to the drivers.

Organizers for Field of Flight say they pulled the plug after Conley failed to pay them $4,500 for last year's event.

The BBB has made several attempts to contact Conley, but so far have not received a reply.
