W. Mich. man accused of injuring 7-week-old child

Updated: Wednesday, July 16, 2014

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan man has been accused of intentionally injuring a 7-week-old child.

Battle Creek Police say they responded to a medical call on June 25 at a home on Douglas Street.

Officers say they found the child with severe head injuries.

Originally, investigators thought it was caused by an accident, but now they believe a 25-year-old man hurt the child purposefully.

The child is currently in intensive care at a local hospital.

The suspect is expected to be charged Thursday with first-degree child abuse.
